Three SPARK Japan Universities Designated as Medical Startup Support Centers in New Government Program

We are thrilled to announce that three SPARK Japan universities—University of Tsukuba, Keio University, and Kyushu University—have been selected as medical startup support centers through a new 5-year government program. Each university will receive over $20M from the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED) as part of its Translational Research Program, which aims to create innovative medicines and medical devices by utilizing translational research support organizations certified by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). Through this program, SPARK Japan will continue to advance its core mission of fostering medical entrepreneurs by leveraging the “Research Studiouniversity collaboration platform.
